Custom koozie price comparison 2026: full color printing on both sides, 4mm neoprene, slim and standard sizes

Full Color, Both Sides, Two Designs: Comparing Custom Koozie Prices Spec-for-Spec (2026)

Quick answer: the per-unit prices you see advertised for custom koozies almost never describe the same product. At the big promotional sites, the base price typically covers one ink color, printed on one side, with one design — on neoprene that is usually 3–3.5mm thick (when the thickness is published at all), plus a $49–$55 setup fee and a 100–200 unit minimum. Our pricing at QualityPerfection includes full color printing on both sides, with a different design on each side if you want, a free scannable QR code, on 4mm neoprene, with no setup fee and a 6-unit minimum. This article compares the two spec-for-spec, using prices published on 4imprint and DiscountMugs product pages as of July 15, 2026.

What “apples to apples” means for a custom koozie quote

Before comparing any two prices, pin down five specs. Each one is a place where a low advertised price quietly becomes a smaller product:

  • How many colors? Many base prices are for a single ink color. Full color (photos, gradients, multi-color logos) is either a separate premium product or a per-color upcharge.
  • How many sides? “Price includes imprint on one side” is the industry standard. The back is a second “imprint location” — often a second run charge and sometimes a second setup fee.
  • How many designs? Even when two sides are offered, some printers require the same artwork on both. A different design per side (logo on the front, names and date on the back) can be treated as two setups.
  • How thick is the neoprene? 3mm and 3.5mm blanks are common because they are cheaper. We print on 4mm — here is why the extra millimeter matters.
  • What is the minimum? Neoprene styles at the big promo sites often start at 100–250 pieces. If you need 30 for a bachelorette party, the advertised price is irrelevant.

The math: what the setup fee and one-side printing really cost you

200 standard 12oz koozies, full color

4imprint’s neoprene collapsible can cooler is $1.77 per unit at 200 — their minimum for that product — plus a $55 setup fee. That is $409 total, or $2.05 per koozie, printed in full color on one side with one design. Our price at 200 units is $1.85 per koozie ($370 total) with full color on both sides and a different design on each side if you want it. You pay $39 less and the back of the koozie isn’t blank.

100 slim koozies, full color

The slim size is where the gap gets dramatic. 4imprint’s slim neoprene cooler is $2.75 per unit at 100 (their minimum) plus the $55 setup: $330 total, $3.30 per koozie, one side. Our slim price at 100 units is $2.10 per koozie — $210 total, both sides. That is 36% less.

250 slim koozies, full color

At 250 slims, 4imprint drops to $2.15 per unit, which with setup works out to $592.50 ($2.37 each, one side). Ours: $492.50 ($1.97 each, both sides) — exactly $100 less, with the second side printed.

Where the big sites win: to be fair, at very large quantities of a simple one-side print, the giants get competitive — 4imprint’s regular neoprene reaches $1.57 per unit at 500 pieces ($1.68 effective with setup), which edges out our 200+ price of $1.85, as long as one side and one design is genuinely all you need. If you’re ordering 500+ with printing on one side only, get quotes from both. The moment you want the back printed, a second design, or fewer than a couple hundred units, the picture flips.

Why the second side (and second design) matters

A koozie is a cylinder in someone’s hand — half the time, the “back” is what faces the room. Weddings put the couple’s monogram on the front and the date or a joke on the back; businesses put the logo on the front and a phone number, QR code or slogan on the back. In promo-industry pricing, that back print is a second imprint location, billed as a per-piece run charge and often a second setup. In our pricing it is simply included: front and back, same or different artwork, full color, one price. And if you want a QR code — for a menu, wedding RSVP page, review link, playlist or your website — we generate and add a scannable QR code to either side free: just send us the link, and test-scan it on the free mockup before anything prints. You can set up both sides yourself in our online koozie designer and see the finished mockup before you pay.

Frequently asked questions

Does printing on both sides of a koozie cost extra?

At most promotional sites, yes — the base price covers one imprint location, and the back is billed as a second location with a run charge and often a second setup fee. At QualityPerfection, front and back printing is included in every published price.

Can the front and back of a custom koozie have different designs?

With us, yes — two completely different designs (for example, artwork on the front, names and a date on the back) at no extra cost. Many printers either require identical artwork on both sides or charge for the second design as a separate setup.

Can I put a QR code on a custom koozie?

Yes — and at QualityPerfection it’s free. Send us the link (your website, Google review page, wedding RSVP, menu, playlist — anything) and we generate a scannable QR code and add it to the front or back of your design at no charge — including styled versions like the heart-center example above. You can test-scan it on the free mockup before anything prints. Elsewhere, a QR code is simply treated as part of your artwork — which means on one-side base products, putting it on the back is the extra imprint-location charge.

Do slim koozies cost more than standard ones?

Slightly. Our slim 12oz runs $0.12 more per unit than regular at every quantity tier ($2.58 down to $1.97). At the big promo sites the slim premium is much larger — 4imprint’s slim neoprene starts at $2.75 per unit plus a $55 setup, versus $1.77 for the regular size.

Is full color printing more expensive than one ink color?

At QualityPerfection, no — one color and full color cost the same. Elsewhere, full color is usually a separate premium product line, or multi-color designs are billed per ink color.

Methodology & disclosure

We sell custom koozies, so read this the way you’d read any comparison written by a vendor — then verify it. Competitor specs and prices were collected on July 15, 2026 from public product pages: 4imprint’s Koozie® Neoprene Collapsible Can Cooler (item 131606) and Koozie® Slim Neoprene Collapsible Can Cooler (item 163126), DiscountMugs’ Neoprene Collapsible Can Coolers (KZNP001), and Custom Ink’s can cooler pages and ordering FAQ. “Effective per-unit” figures are simply (units × unit price + setup fee) ÷ units; competitor shipping is not included and would raise their totals further. Their prices may have changed since. Our pricing is current as of publication and published live on our pricing calculator.
