QualityPerfection koozie design tool with text placed on a live mockup

How to Create Your Custom Koozie© with Our Free Design Tool (Step-by-Step Guide)

Designing your own koozie© should be the fun part, and with our free online design tool it is. You pick a style and color, drop in a logo, a photo, some text, a monogram or art, see it on a live mockup, and order. No account, no design software, and nothing prints until you approve a mockup from our team.

This guide walks through the whole tool step by step and answers the questions we hear most often. If you would rather just try it, open Design Your Koozie© and follow along.

1. What is the QualityPerfection design tool?

It is a free, browser-based designer built into every "Design Your Own" page on our site. It works on a phone, tablet, or computer, and you do not need to sign up to use it. With it you can:

  • Choose from eight koozie© styles (regular, slim, 16oz, magnetic, magnetic slim, pattern, slim pattern, and ombre), or use the separate wedding designer, and pick from dozens of koozie© colors.
  • Upload your own logo or photo, add text in more than 100 fonts, pick a monogram or name design, choose from 4,600+ pieces of art, or add a scannable QR code.
  • Design the front and the back. Two-sided printing is included at no extra charge on every style except the two magnetic ones, which print on one side.
  • Watch the price update as you type your quantity, then add to cart and check out.
  • Get a mockup emailed to you in less than 24 hours and approve it before anything is printed.

2. Which koozie© style should I start with?

The style chips sit at the top of the eight style pages under "Customize another style"; tap one to switch. Regular 12oz is for standard cans, Slim 12oz for slim cans such as seltzers, and 16oz Tallboy for pint cans. The two Magnetic styles have a magnetic back and print on one side. Pattern and Ombre styles print your design on a camo or ombre koozie©. The separate wedding designer has no style chips and keeps only wedding art and monograms in front of you. Not sure which size you need? See our size chart.

The material line under the chips tells you what each style is made of, and the "Compare sizes & materials" link opens a side-by-side chart. Minimum order is 12 koozies© per design for most styles and 6 for the 16oz and magnetic styles.

3. How do I pick the koozie© color?

The "Koozie© color" selector is right below the mockup. Pick a color and the mockup changes instantly so you can see how your ink looks on it. Colors that are out of stock cannot be selected. On dark koozies© the tool starts you with white ink so your design stays readable; you can change the ink color any time (see question 10).

4. How do I upload my logo or photo?

Open the Upload tab (it is the first tab, so it is already open when the page loads), then tap the upload box or drag your file onto it. Your image lands on the mockup inside the dashed print area. Drag it to move it, pull a corner handle to resize it, and use the controls under the mockup to center, rotate, or delete it.

Under the upload box you will find a Photo style row: Original, B&W, Sepia, or 1-Color ink. 1-Color ink turns the photo into a single-color version in your chosen ink color.

5. What kinds of files can I upload?

The tool accepts PNG, JPG, and WEBP files up to 10 MB. A PNG with a transparent background is the best choice for logos, because only your artwork prints and the koozie© color shows through around it. JPG and WEBP work well for photos.

If your logo only exists as a PDF, AI, EPS, or SVG file, export it as a PNG first (in most design programs that is File > Export, or Save As). Use the largest size you can; small images look blurry when printed. For a deeper look at resolution and common mistakes, read our artwork tips guide.

Uploading a screenshot, a rough sketch, or an AI-generated mockup? Use the optional Design Recreation option (the "Uploading an AI mockup or rough image?" line near the Add to cart button) and our designers will rebuild it as clean, print-ready art for $10 per image. You still approve the mockup before we print.

6. How do I add text?

Open the Text tab, type your wording in the "Your text" box, pick a font, and tap Add text. The text appears on the mockup, where you can drag it, resize it from the corner handles, and rotate it. Tap Add text again for a second line; each line is placed on its own, so a name and a date can use different fonts and sizes.

The font list starts with the most popular choices and the "Full font catalog" below it has more than 100 fonts with a search box. Stuck for words? The link above the box opens our free koozie© sayings generator; pick a saying there and it comes back to the designer already placed.

7. How do I add a monogram or name design?

Open the Monogram tab. Designs are grouped into categories such as Contemporary, Classic, Wreath, Traditional, Kids, Mr & Mrs, Mother's Day, and Wedding, and every design carries a style code (for example 3-CO-QP). Tap the design you like, type your wording in "Your wording (names or initials)", add an optional second line such as the date, and tap Add monogram design.

Need just initials fast? Use the "Quick initials" box for one to three letters and pick a quick style. Want a different ink color or font on a monogram? Select it on the mockup, then tap a color swatch below, or switch to the Text tab and pick a font.

8. How do I add art or start from a template?

Open the Art tab. Type a word such as "eagle", "boots", or "bride" into the search box, or browse the categories (American Flag, Anchors, Arrows, Bachelorette, and many more). Tap any design and it lands on the mockup in your current ink color.

The Quick Start row at the top of the Art tab holds ready-made layouts such as Bachelorette, Bachelor Party, and Birthday. Tap a template, then type your own wording.

9. How do I add a QR code?

The QR code box sits under the tools on every tab. Paste a link to your website, menu, registry, or social page and tap Add QR. The code is generated on the spot and placed on the mockup, scannable right off the koozie©. Double-check the link before you order.

10. How do I move, resize, rotate, or recolor something?

Tap any element on the mockup to select it. Then:

  • Drag it to move, or pull a corner handle to resize.
  • Use the buttons under the mockup: Forward and Back change which element sits on top, Center snaps it to the middle, Rotate turns it 15 degrees, and Delete removes it (the Delete key works too).
  • Use the arrow buttons to nudge the element a little at a time, and Reset to put it back where it started.
  • Pick an Ink color swatch below the tools. A swatch recolors the selected element; with nothing selected it sets the color for the next thing you add. There is also a "Pick any color" option for a custom color.

One note on ink: we print in standard flat ink colors, so glitter and neon inks are not available (neon koozie© colors are).

11. How do I design the back side?

Use the Front and Back buttons above the mockup. Each side is its own canvas, so you can put your logo on the front and a date, hashtag, or QR code on the back. Two-sided printing is included in the price. The two Magnetic styles print on one side only, so they have no Back button.

12. How much does it cost, and what is the minimum?

Type your quantity into the "How many koozies©?" box under the mockup. The total updates right away, and the price per koozie© drops as you move into a larger quantity tier; a hint under the total tells you how many more you need to reach the next lower price. The box shows the minimum and maximum for the style: 12 to 1,000 on most styles, from 6 on the 16oz and magnetic styles. Standard US shipping is free on orders of $45 or more.

To compare every style and tier in one place, use the koozie© pricing calculator. Orders over 300 koozies© in total take a little longer to print (see question 14).

13. Can I save or share my design?

You do not need an account. Two buttons under the total help you keep or share your work:

  • Copy design link copies a link that reopens the designer with your text, art, monograms, and koozie© color in place. Send it to a friend or the rest of the party committee, or save it for later. Uploaded photos stay private on your device, so they are not included in the link; re-upload them when you come back.
  • Email mockup saves a picture of your current mockup. On phones that support sharing it opens your device's share menu; otherwise it downloads koozie-mockup.png and opens a new email so you can attach it.

The designer also keeps a draft in your browser, so if you close the page and come back on the same device your work is still there. Once a design is in your cart, the Edit link on that cart line reopens it in the designer.

14. What happens after I click Add to cart?

  1. Check out as usual. Use the "Notes for our team" box on the design page first if there is anything we should know, such as placement tweaks, color matching, or a deadline.
  2. Watch your email. Our design team checks your artwork and emails a mockup in less than 24 hours. Check your spam folder if you do not see it. Want text updates too? Enter your number in the optional "Text me about my mockup and order status" field on the design page.
  3. Approve it, or ask for changes. The mockup is revised until you approve. Nothing prints without your OK.
  4. Printing takes 3 to 5 business days after approval. Orders totaling more than 300 koozies© take 7 to 14 business days.
  5. Delivery. Enter your ZIP in the "Estimated delivery" box on the design page to see an arrival estimate. Need it faster? Call or text (716) 415-0354 or email custom@quality-perfection.com for Next-Day and 2nd-Day Air rates.

Design tips from our print team

  • Bold beats thin. Regular or bold fonts print clearly; very thin script fonts and tiny text are harder to read once printed.
  • Use high-resolution images. A logo copied from a website or an email signature is usually too small. Ask for the original file.
  • Mind the contrast. Use light ink on dark koozies© and dark ink on light ones; black ink on a navy koozie© is hard to see.
  • Stay inside the dashed box. The dashed outline on the mockup is the print area. Keep every element inside it.
  • Use the back on two-sided styles. Two-sided printing is included except on magnetic styles, so add a date, a hashtag, a website, or a QR code.
  • Proofread names and dates. Your mockup is the last stop before printing, so read it once more before you approve.
  • Not sure how a font prints? The "View the printed fonts chart" link in the Text tab opens our printed fonts chart.
