What Size Koozie Do I Need? Standard vs Slim vs 16oz vs Bottle (Size Chart)

What Size Koozie Do I Need? Standard vs Slim vs 16oz vs Bottle (Size Chart)

Quick answer: Choose a Regular (Standard) 12oz koozie for classic short, wide cans (most beer and soda), a Slim koozie for tall, skinny 12oz cans like White Claw, Truly and Red Bull, and a 16oz koozie for tall boys and larger energy drinks. Bottle koozies are a separate style made for long-neck glass bottles.

Picking the right size is the single most important decision when buying a can cooler — a koozie that's too loose won't insulate well, and one that's too tight is a pain to get your can in and out of. Here's how to get it right the first time.

Koozie Size Chart

Koozie type Fits Popular examples
Regular / Standard 12oz Classic short, wide 12oz cans Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Budweiser, Coors, Miller, most domestic beers
Slim 12oz Tall, narrow “skinny” 12oz cans White Claw, Truly, High Noon, Red Bull (12oz), most hard seltzers
16oz Tall boys & 16oz cans Many craft beers, 16oz energy drinks, 16oz domestic tall cans
Bottle Long-neck glass bottles 12oz beer bottles such as Corona and Bud

Standard (Regular) 12oz koozies

This is the original, classic koozie size. If you grab a typical can of soda or a domestic beer, it's a standard 12oz can — short and wide. Our Regular 12oz can cooler sleeves are the safest choice when you're buying for a crowd and don't know exactly what everyone will be drinking, because standard cans are still the most common.

Slim koozies (the fast-growing one)

Hard seltzers and energy drinks changed everything. White Claw, Truly, High Noon and Red Bull all come in a 12oz can that is taller and noticeably narrower than a classic can. A standard koozie will be too baggy for these — you need a Slim can cooler sleeve. If your event leans toward seltzers, order slim.

16oz koozies (tall boys)

Craft beers and many energy drinks come in 16oz “tall boy” cans. These are taller and wider than a standard can, so they need a dedicated 16oz koozie. A 16oz can will not fit a regular or slim sleeve.

Bottle koozies

Bottle koozies are shaped for long-neck glass bottles rather than cans. If you're serving bottled beer, this is the style you want. (We specialize in can cooler sleeves — Regular 12oz, Slim and 16oz — so reach out if you need a bottle style and we'll point you the right way.)

Still not sure? A quick rule of thumb

  • Buying for a mixed crowd? Go mostly Regular 12oz with some Slim.
  • Serving seltzers / Red Bull? Go Slim.
  • Serving craft beer or tall boys? Go 16oz.
  • Serving bottles? Choose a bottle koozie.

All of our sleeves are made from premium 4mm neoprene — thicker than the industry-standard 3mm — so whichever size you choose, your drink stays colder for longer. Learn more about why thickness matters in our guide on neoprene vs foam koozies.
